Stuart Dooley (usually referred to by his last name, even by other members of his family with the same name) is a deep-voiced, laconic teenager and one of Bobby's classmates at Tom Landry Middle School. Dooley is voiced by Mike Judge. Dooley was born on October 25, 1984.

Description

Dooley has shaggy red hair and is always seen with a blank, staring expression on his face. He always sardonically intones something obvious after witnessing an event while making those statements sound like put-downs. For example, after seeing Hank's new lawn infested with fire ants, Dooley says to Hank, "You got ants," and bluntly stating to Bobby, "Your dad got blown up," in "Death of a Propane Salesman." Besides being a put-down artist, Dooley also seems to be something of a bully, taking quiet pleasure in saying things to people to sadden or anger them. For example, when Bill is having fun at Bobby's birthday party, Dooley says, "Your wife divorced you." Another example is when he threw donuts at the kids in the plus-sized fashion show with little or no remorse. Despite being a bully, there are instances where Dooley has been shown to be sympathetic to others; in "I'm with Cupid," when Bobby gives Joseph a rose corsage to try and make him look more popular to girls, Dooley mistakes both boys as lovers and remarks, "that took courage." In "Tears of an Inflatable Clown," when leftist Arlen School District representative Dr. Pope wrongly accuses Dooley of being connected to South African apartheid and ethnic cleansing due to his Dutch heritage, Dooley is horrified and decides to join Bobby and several other students in a "healing assembly".

Dooley lives in a two-parent household and has a younger sibling, as shown in the episode where he runs away, although only for a brief period.

Dooley spends most of his time socializing with Clark Peters, another child bully. In later seasons, he's in a small gang of friends with Clark, Bobby, Joseph, Connie, Lori and Ramon Alejandro. In "No Bobby Left Behind", Dooley and his friends get wrongfully diagnosed as "special needs" and sent to a separate class, going on a field trip to Alamo Land as a group, where Dooley and Ramon show off on a log flume ride to impress Lori. Dooley's voice and manner of speaking are similar to that of Butt-Head from Mike Judge's previous show, Beavis and Butt-Head, albeit without Butt-Head's trademark obnoxious chuckling. Beavis and Butt-Head also had a character named Stewart.

Phrases

Dooley's trademark is that he usually speaks in phrases of two to seven words. Because of his sardonic delivery, his phrases are generally memorable even when he's talking about something mundane.
