Nguc Phong (Lao: ຫງອກ ພົງ) is an elderly Laotian guerrilla who fought against communist forces in Laos. Although he was exiled by the communist government of Laos, he is considered a legendary fighter and lives in the United States.
Appearance[]
Phong is an elderly man with gray hair and tan skin. He has slight ptosis in his right eye, and is seen wearing collared shirts most times. He cares about Laotian culture a lot and celebrates Magha Puja.
History[]
Phong first appears in "Orange You Sad I Did Say Banana?" attending a house party hosted by Ted Wassanasong, a fellow Laotian. He meets Kahn, who has heard of Phong's war heroism and is honored to meet him. Kahn asks about Ted's pool and eventually has one built in his backyard. When Ted, Phong, and other Laotians attend Kahn's Magha Puja party, Kahn makes a joke about Laotians and Chinese people being no different, which offends the Laotians. Phong and Ted tell Kahn that he is not connected with his Laotian roots, calling him a banana (slang for an Asian who acts white).
Later, Phong and Ted tell Kahn about Laotian-Americans not being taken seriously, and they can change that by training to overthrow Laos' communist government. Phong has several men, including Kahn, practice training in soldier uniforms at Nine Rivers, but Kahn is very sloppy and is reprimanded by Phong. After his first session of Phong hitting his face with the butt of a rifle, Kahn quits his training.
