Summary[]
Luanne moves into the house next door (which used to belong to one of Cotton's old war buddies who recently died), and must deal with her freeloading roommates.
Plot[]
Hank and his buddies are at the alley drinking their beers and then watch Bill's elderly neighbor Ted "Pops" Popacito riding his lawnmower to mow the lawns. Suddenly, Pops collapses and dies of a heart attack on his lawnmower. Hank thought that Pops was showboat and tries to alert him, but received no response for him as his lawnmower swerve out of control and crashes onto the fence, causing a horrified Hank and his friends to run over and aid him.
After Pops' death and house rental, Bill pitches a plan for the four of them to rent Pops' house as a clubhouse, to which Dale, Boomhauer, and Hank all agree. That night, Luanne returns to The Hill residence and brings a swan shaped onion loaf from her work at The Panhandler Steakhouse. Bobby awaits at the kitchen's dining table and complains to Luanne about her delay and his 9:30 bath time, where Luanne apologizes and replies that she gets off work late after a rough day before she gives Booby a swan shaped onion loaf that he requests as he'll eat it with a Ketchup soon. Luanne desperately asks about seeking a short shower, but Bobby declines since he has beaten her to it for his bath while he takes the soap to wash his own dishes after his meals. Meanwhile, Luanne sneaks into Hank and Peggy's bedroom to try and use their shower bathroom, only to find them making love instead of sleeping in their bed. An outraged Hank and Peggy later chastises Luanne for violating numerous rules from their initial agreement to let her stay in the Hank's den.
The next day, Hank and his friends begin to make plans for their new clubhouse, but they notice Kahn & Minh brought a country club couple to seek Pops' house. Hank gets an idea to get rid of the couple so he and his friends perform a silly square dance that mortifies Kahn and Minh, causing the couple to leave as their plan work.
Hank and his friends enters Pops' house to continue with their plans for their new clubhouse and notice the refrigerator where they found inside contained his last beer that Hank opens and then honors him. Hank and his friends spots Pops' swimming pool and asks Bill about it, but their conversion cut-short when the realtor arrives and informs them that Pops' house is rented to a college student, who turns out to be none other than Luanne, surprising Hank. While Dale tries to order Luanne back to Hank's den, Hank welcomes her to her new house, much to his friends' outrage. Later, Luanne reveals that she has brought in three roommates from a friend who had lost her apartment lease to help with expenses. When Dale and the others confronted Hank for not stopping Luanne from taking their clubhouse, Hank reveals that he had just wanted the clubhouse with the den space since Luanne move out of his own house. At the same time, Hank and his friends watch three roommates arriving at Luanne's new house especially one that parks at their hangout spot. Hank creates his own den into a clubhouse. In return, Dale, Bill and Boomhauer take over Hank's den as their clubhouse.
Meanwhile, Luanne soon finds out that her friend's old roommates were likely the reason the said friend lost her lease. In addition to ignoring their responsibilities for their portions of the rent and utility bills, which are all in Luanne's name, they shirk their chores and purposely eat all of her food. When she angrily confronts them with a list of agreed-upon house rules which they have broken, however, she is horrified to realize that she has become just like Hank. Hank agrees to talk to a hysterical Luanne at Peggy's insistence, telling Luanne that when life's frustrations get to him he finds solace in tending to his lawn. Acting on his suggestion, she makes a hobby of cleaning and maintaining the property's swimming pool. By the end of the episode, she has not only paid all the overdue bills and cut off the house's utilities so that her roommates will be forced to contribute their fair share, but she has also perfectly adjusted the pH of the pool. At this revelation, she and Hank contentedly sip beer in her backyard.
During the credits, Cotton Hill and his friend Topsy come to visit Pops, only to learn of his death from Griffin, one of Luanne's deadbeat roommates. Cotton accuses Griffin of murder, and he and Topsy proceed to beat Griffin up after he calls Topsy a Nazi.
