"Manger Baby Einstein" is the 17th episode of the 13th season of King of the Hill. It first aired on May 10, 2009.
Summary[]
While adjusting to her new career and life as a mom, Luanne resurrects her Manger Baby puppets and, with help from John Redcorn, starts a series of direct-to-DVD educational shows.
Plot[]
Luanne is informed that she can't come back to work at the barber shop until her new life as a mother "normalizes". Later, at church, she calms Gracie (and the other children) down with her Manger Baby puppets and suddenly realizes that this is what she was meant to do with her life.
Her act becomes popular enough that she performs at birthday parties and makes direct-to-DVD educational shows with help from John Redcorn. However, it soon becomes evident that the Manger Babies are one-trick ponies, as the young children soon lose interest. In turn, John Redcorn decides to replace her with another money-making act.
As she begins to run out of ideas for how to freshen up her act, she reads the script for Dale's children's book, entitled The Magic Bullet. She decides to make her act more mature by introducing a Bratz doll into the group and discarding Gurgle Gurgle the Octopus. She screens her new show for her friends and neighbors, and Dale is horrified to find that Luanne stole his idea. In retaliation, he steals the Manger Babies and throws them in the dryer at the laundromat, destroying them.
Hank quickly stops Luanne and Dale from fighting, but the damage is done - the Manger Babies are no more. With Luanne seemingly directionless, Hank convinces her that her purpose is to be a mother to Gracie above everything else. She realizes that Hank is right and shifts her focus back to her daughter. Meanwhile, Gurgle Gurgle makes its way through town (and piles of garbage) and back into Luanne's possession; it becomes Gracie's favorite toy.
