"Lucky See, Monkey Do" is the 243rd episode of King of the Hill and features the birth of Luanne's child. This season 13 episode is the first to be produced in high-definition widescreen. It was written was written by Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh, and directed by Kyounghee Lim.
Summary[]
Lucky's sister comes to visit and gets into a fight with Peggy over how Luanne should raise her baby. Meanwhile, Bill goes on a road trip to track down the voice of a Want-A Burger drive-thru employee.
Plot[]
When Peggy plans a baby shower for Luanne, Lucky invites his sister Myrna and her children to the party. Myrna has conflicting parenting information to give Luanne, and is described by Peggy as a "modern mother". Myrna later decorates the baby's room and makes it look (according to Peggy) "depressing" and "creepy". Myrna suggests to Luanne that the baby be given birth "naturally" at home with little assistance so the baby is born into a better environment. At the same time, Peggy argues to have the baby at a hospital, specifically under the heavy influence of painkillers. Luanne then attends Childbirth classes at Heimlich County Hospital along with Peggy and Myrna. Peggy states that she relieved Bobby's teething by applying scotch to his gums. The instructor and other people find this preposterous, making Luanne trust Myrna more. During a scuffle between Myrna and Peggy on where to birth the baby, Luanne's water breaks.
Subsequently, Luanne goes to The Birthing Circle LLC to give birth, but she is frustrated that Myrna wants her to give birth in a pool without painkillers. She decides to do it "her way" and takes Peggy's advice about going to the hospital to give birth. Bobby creates a distraction to allow Luanne to leave with Lucky and the others to the hospital. When Luanne and Lucky's baby is born, they first want to name her Lasagna. Hank immediately objects, but Peggy tells him that Luanne has to make her own choices (but privately assures him she'll make sure the baby is not named Lasagna). The baby is then named Gracie Margaret Kleinschmidt.
Meanwhile, Bill has fallen in love with the voice at the Want-A Burger drive-through. When he discovers that the voice does not belong to someone on-site but that "Jane" works out of a call center in Buckeye, Arizona, he drives out to C.O.S. Communication Outsource Solutions to meet her, only to discover that Jane is a seventeen-year-old. The age difference cools whatever affection they had for each other, and Bill awkwardly leaves.

Trivia[]
- The episode title is a reference to "Monkey See, Monkey Do".
- This episode is the first one produced and aired in 16:9 high-definition, and the first one produced in full-screen format for its 4:3 prints.
- The children's magazine Hank was reading was titled "Wee Street Journal" which is a pun on "Wall Street Journal".
- Starting with this episode, the opening sequence has been upscaled to high-definition format. The sequence itself, however, is more-or-less the same, right down to the error of Hank's white T-shirt collar changing to his blue, Strickland Propane work uniform collar when his head becomes part of the King of the Hill logo, as well as the presence of Buckley eleven seasons after his death.
- The restaurant Want-A Burger is a reference to the fast-food chain Whataburger. In all earlier episodes (including the previous one) of the show, the restaurant's real name is used.
Quotes[]
To be added.
Goofs[]
- Despite being pregnant for close to two seasons, this is the only episode where Luanne shows any physical signs of pregnancy.
- Right before Hank and his friends look for hazards in Luanne and Lucky's house, we get an exterior shot which shows that it's daytime. But when Dale is choking on a button, it's suddenly nighttime.
