"Hank Gets Dusted" is the two hundred-sixth episode of King of the Hill. It was first aired on April 1, 2007. The episode was written by Kit Boss and directed by Michael Loya.

Summary[]

Hank is devastated when Cotton's Cadillac is given to Hank's cousin Dusty (voice of Dusty Hill from the rock band ZZ Top), and things get worse when Dusty begins harassing Hank as part of a hidden-camera prank show à la Punk'd.

Plot[]

Cotton phones Hank and informs him that he is selling his Cadillac. However, much to Hank's horror, it is revealed that Cotton is selling the car to Hank's cousin, Dusty Hill, a member of rock band ZZ Top. Hank recalls how Dusty used to pull practical jokes on him when they were younger, something he never forgave Dusty for. Knowing he cannot hide the truth from Bobby anymore, he shows him that they are related to a rock star.

Dusty arrives the following day and appears to want to mend fences with Hank. However, a television crew is filming the interaction—Dusty is starring in a reality show. Dusty continues to mess with Hank, and the producer, Paul Portis, realizes that these interactions and Hank's uncontrollable anger make for great television. Pranks include having Hank's neighbors dig up his lawn to uncover a buried gold record, and Dusty's bandmates join in on the fun.

A recorded conversation between Hank and Cotton makes the show's producer realize how much Hank loves the Cadillac. His solution is to have Dusty modify it and enter it into a demolition derby at Tut Rampy Racetrack just to get Hank's reaction. Hank and his friends arrive to the derby too late, as the Cadillac gets smashed from all sides. The car catches fire and Dusty has trouble getting out, as his beard has become jammed in the seat belt release. Hank runs to the rescue, cuts Dusty's beard with a pocketknife, and pulls him to safety.

Later, while speaking with Hank, Dusty realizes how much the car meant to him. Knowing that the producer knew this and set everything up, Dusty cancels the show. The other band members threaten the producer, who claims that he can just find other celebrities to star in other shows. With the rift seemingly mended, the members of ZZ Top encourage Bobby to stay in school, much to Hank's satisfaction. The now touched-up Cadillac is then buried with the other cars from the derby.
