The football coach is a coach for middle school football at Tom Landry Middle School who appears twice in season 7.

Appearance[]

The coach is an older man with short black hair and a gray beard. He wears a white baseball cap with the letters "TL" for Tom Landry. He also wears a blue sports jacket with a white dress shirt underneath.

History[]

In The Son Also Roses, the coach is looking for a new towel manager and hosts tryouts. Hank and Dale encourage Bobby to try out since he should be somewhere on the football team, even if it is a non-athletic position. Bobby folds the towel much quicker than his opponent, impressing the coach. After the first game day, the coach tells his team that he will buy Whataburger food for all them, but tells Bobby to stay behind and clean up every jock strap on the field. During the second football game, Bobby does not show up after gaining an interest in rose growing, and the football team loses the game due to lacking clean towels to clean up their sweat and dirt. The coach is angry at Bobby's absence and replaces him with another person for towel manager.

Later in I Never Promised You an Organic Garden, the football coach coaches the team with the help of Rick and another man. At the time, Bobby and Peggy bring the football team organic produce as food after their practice, and the coach is impressed with Bobby's food. When the next batch of food grows, many pests contaminate the food and Bobby still brings the food to the football team. The football coach looks at a rotten carrot and tells Bobby he would not feed it to sixth grade junior varsity. Principal Moss decides to shut down the organic produce club since Peggy was caught using pesticides, so the football coach wants the garden area to be used as a storage area for blocking sleds. Hank prevents the team from kicking out the gardeners, and the coach reluctantly allows the organic team to continue.
