"Enrique-cilable Differences" is the one hundred-seventy-seventh episode of King of the Hill. It was first aired on February 20, 2005. The episode was written by Greg Cohen and directed by Dominic Polcino.
Summary[]
Hank's co-worker Enrique is having marital problems, and starts spending all his time with Hank. Meanwhile, Bobby tries to unblock the FOX network from the family TV.
Plot[]

Before going to work at Strickland Propane, Hank starts the day by telling Dale, Bill and Boomhauer that he will provide the food and beer for his garage repavement project. Arriving at work, Hank is surprised that his co-worker Enrique is already there before the store opens. Enrique tries to enthusiastically make small talk with Hank, much to the latter's awkwardness. Later, Hank finds out that Enrique has been acting so hardworking because he is having marital problems with his wife Yolanda. To Hank's dismay, Enrique starts spending all his time with his family at the Hill residence. Meanwhile, Bobby tries to unblock the FOX network from the Hills' TV so he and Joseph can watch the Daytona 500.
Even though he feels he should stay out of Enrique's situation, Hank reluctantly agrees to help him get back together with his wife. When Enrique starts arguing with Yolanda, Hank decides to leave them alone. Later, when Hank and his friends are drying his garage pavement, Yolanda's brothers stop by and toss Enrique onto the wet pavement, claiming that Yolanda has kicked him out of his house. Frustrated with Enrique staying with his family rather than confronting his problems, Hank brings him to the Dearborn single men's apartment place so that he can cope with his single life. Later that night after a long day, the Hills are woken up by Enrique ringing the doorbell and yelling in desperation to let him in. Although Peggy, Luanne and Bobby want to at least hear him out, Hank remains steadfast and advises them to keep quiet and keep Enrique out so that he can stop engaging in escapism. After crying in anguish, Enrique leaves the property and goes back to Yolanda, making things right with her overnight. With his work life back to normal, Hank is content and glad that he has no knowledge of Enrique's marital life.

Trivia[]
- The episode title is a play on the phrase "irreconcilable differences" commonly used in the topic of divorce.
- Enrique states in this episode that his kids are all grown up and have moved out of the house. However, in the Season 12 episode "Lady and Gentrification", he is organizing his daughter Inez's 15th birthday party.
- When Bobby and Joseph are watching the Daytona 500 on cable and are hoping it will get more exciting, Joseph states that "...maybe the Hilton twins will have to run across the track." The Hilton twins were a British 'Siamese' (conjoined) twin side-show act who died in 1969 (although in this particular instance they were probably referring to the Hilton sisters, Paris and Nicolai Hilton).
- The song playing when Enrique is touring the apartment building's recreation room is "Two Tickets to Paradise" by Eddie Money.
Goofs[]
- In this episode, Bobby and Joseph are depicted as so unaware of auto racing that they do not even know what the Daytona 500 is, and Hank is willing to block the FOX network (which, in 2005, showed half of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series races along with cable affiliate FX, the other half being shown by NBC and TNT) outside of football season. However, in previous episodes, Hank has been depicted as a NASCAR fan, and Bobby has attempted to learn more about sports in order to impress his father. In particular, Hank is seen attending NASCAR events in both "Dale Be Not Proud" and "Life in the Fast Lane, Bobby's Saga" and in the latter episode, Bobby works at the racetrack. It is not plausible that Bobby has never even heard of the most prestigious race of the NASCAR season or that Hank never watches racing on TV, though it is plausible that Hank stopped watching NASCAR after Dale Earnhardt died in 2001 and all of the rule changes that were implemented starting in 2003 that fundamentally altered the sport (such as NBC demanding the implementation of the controversial postseason playoffs in 2004 to combat low end-of-season ratings).
Quotes[]
- Bill (Lifting up a sledgehammer): "I AM... MIGHTY THOR!!"
- Hank Hill: Dang it, Peggy. This has got to stop. Enrique has to go talk to his wife not hang out here.
- Enrique: Oh, no. She's in one of her moods. Drive Hank.
- Hank: No. Apparently, Peggy thinks I need to help Yolanda and you work this thing out. So, uh, all that intimate stuff you told me, you're going to tell it to Yolanda.
- Dale: Dang it, Hank, we've been waiting forever to work on the driveway. We're almost too drunk to use power tools.
- Bill: (belches) Beg pardon.
- Bobby: You know what would be a good way to teach me responsibility? You unblock the Fox network and I promise not to watch it.
- Hank: Is it football season?
- Bobby: No.
- Hank: Then it's blocked.
- Yolanda: ¡Quizás quieres casarte con Hank! *kissing noises* ¡Hank es fuerte, Hank es divertido, con su esposa elegante oíste, la Peggy! (English: "It seems like you want to marry Hank! 'Hank is strong, Hank is fun', with that elegant wife you heard of, Peggy!")
- Enrique: Siempre—¡Yo no quiero que me hables asina! (English: "You always--I don't want you talking to me like that!")
- Yolanda: ¿Y tú invitaste a Hank a mi casa? (English: "And you invited Hank to my house?")
- Yolanda's brother: (to Hank and Peggy) Are you Enrique's friend Hank Hill?
- Hank: (to Yolanda's brothers) I'm Enrique's assistant manager, yes.
