Not to be confused with Earl Boley, Earl Petchesky, or Earl (Joust Like a Woman).

Earl is the elderly man who owns Earl's Music Shop, a fictional music shop located in Arlen, Texas. He is especially fond of guitars. He has a son named Les. He presumably knows Emily, Peggy's guitar instructor, as she placed an advertisement on a wall at his store. He is voiced by Stephen Root.

Appearance[]

Earl is an older Caucasian man with a skinny build, pale skin, short wavy red hair, and white eyebrows. He wears a solid light green short-sleeved button-up shirt and gray pants.

History[]

Season 1[]

In "Hank's Got the Willies", Earl helps diagnose the issue with Hank's guitar. Hank believes the issue is with the bridge of the guitar. Earl says the "bridge is the symptom" and "the issue with the asymmetry". Earl says the guitar smells like a bellybutton, and Hank states that Bobby was playing it with a piece of cheese.

Season 2[]

In "Peggy's Turtle Song", Hank wants to do a family sing-along, however he states he needs to drop by Earl's Music Shop to get Betsy, his guitar, some new strings. While Hank and Peggy visit his shop, Earl says he never saw Peggy as the stay-at-home type. Peggy who is bored, looks at music records, and tests out a tuning fork and a piano metronome. On a wall at Earl's shop, Peggy sees a flyer advertising guitar lessons and begins taking lessons with Emily at Casa Villa Apartment.

Season 6[]

In "The Bluegrass is Always Greener", Hank tells Connie to "saw that thing" (her violin) and she accidentally pops a string. They visit Earl's Music Shop to fix her violin. When they arrive, Earl fixes and plays her violin and asks her to demonstrate a little "Twinkle, Twinkle". Connie amazes him with her prowess, and Earl suggests that she should go to Branson, Missouri, for a fiddle contest. They all agree to go which creates The Dale Gribble Bluegrass Experience. Connie is bummed because she realizes that she has to travel to Fort Worth, Texas for another contest.
