King of the Hill Wiki

Death Buys a Timeshare is the one hundred-seventy-fourth episode of King of the Hill. It was first aired on January 16, 2005. The episode was written by Etan Cohen, and directed by Kyounghee Lim and Boohwan Lim.

Cotton inherits $10,000 from the will of his friend Topsy, and goes to Mexico, with Bill in tow, to buy a timeshare. Feeling lonely after the death of his friend, Cotton gets suckered in by tales of the timeshare development's owner, O'Kelly, and decides to buy—even though Americans cannot own land in Mexico. Meanwhile, Peggy, Bobby and Dale search for a pool to swim in.

  • Hank mentions that Bill's wages are "still being garnished by Columbia House.", Columbia House was a mail-order service or 'music club' where one could receive several CDs for 'free' by promising to buy more in the future. It was widely abused in the 1990s with some people stealing thousands of CDs from the company, which was notorious for sending threatening letters to non-compliant members but never going beyond that, and certainly never managing to garnish anyone's wages.

Stinger Quote

  • Bill: "Just pour it in the snorkel. Pour it, ah!"

  • Hank Hill: I came down here to protect my dad and damn it, that's what I'm going to do. We've gotta get to Rich.
  • Bill Dauterive: Just look out for those guys in the Feathers.
